SHENZI DEEPWATER PRODUCTION FACILITY
Greenfield Hook-up of Shenzi
Because PES had successfully provided mechanical hook-up services to the clients assets offshore Trinidad, it was again selected as a core contractor to achieving first oil safely, on-time and on-budget for this 100,000 bop/d production unit in deepwater Gulf of Mexico. Prior to mobilizing offshore, PES provided project management and planning personnel to minimize the work offshore. Once mobilized, PES completed the hook-up with 111,000 hours in 6 months.
As a result of the success on the initial hook-up, PES was awarded a follow-on project for the procurement, fabrication and hook-up of a 320-ton water injection module to Shenzi. This 24 month project was PES’ largest and most complex project at the time. With nearly 28,000 individual items needed in procurement, including specialty items direct from the mill, PES incorporated a materials tracking and handling database to ensure inventory control. With that in place, PES was able to fabricate, test and install the 320 ton Water Injection Pump Module, 600 tons of associated interconnect pipe, install the 250 Ton Ultrafiltration system, 120 Ton Sulphate Removal System, injection charge pump and chemical injection skid and complete the deck reinforcement using habitat technology.
